My Writing

You can find a few of my writing pieces below.

There is a variety of different pieces, including two research papers, a news story, and a visual analysis.

Read, Think, Write

01

Read, Think, Write is a research paper I wrote for a Communication Theory class, which analyzes an academic journal titled Strategic Communication and Social Media Within the Context of Media Ecology: A Study on Instagram.  This paper aims to explore the ways that social media has influenced our lives dramatically, and how it sets up new rules for strategic communications by creating new roles for businesses and content creators on Instagram.

Reflection on Courageous Communication

This is a reflection I wrote evaluating the ways in which we should be bold in our communication and better utilize the resources we have to do so, because we have a responsibility to stand up for injustices and to practice the Benedictine values of respect for persons, service and community by doing so.

03

An Interview Story

This is a short news story I wrote for my Writing for the Media class, in which I interview a woman about what life was like for her growing up in the 1950's and 60's.

Visual Analysis

This piece is a visual analysis that I did for a Visual Communication class, and it reflects on William Adolphe-Bouguereau's painting "Temptation."

Olgivy on Advertising: A Strategic Analysis

This piece is a paper reflecting on David Olgivy's book on advertising, called "Olgivy on Advertising."  It reflects on principles which Olgivy considers the most important for strategic communications and the world of advertising.

A Big Tech and Future Lawmaking Essay: Algorithms on Social Media

This piece is an essay for a Communication Law class, which focuses on ethical concerns with social media algorithms, and evaluates them in the context of communication law.  It explores two main issues with these algorithms: the way in which they are used to spread misinformation and disinformation, and algorithmic bias.
